Petition to Remove Conditions on Your Resident Status

Service fee: $800

If you are a conditional permanent resident and you need to remove the conditions on your permanent resident status (if you are a conditional permanent resident who obtained status through marriage), contact our office and we will be glad to send any and all necessary information to assist you in filing your case.

Please note that your conditional permanent resident status is only valid for two years if you:

(1) Received your conditional permanent resident status through marriage to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; or

(2) Were admitted to the United States as a fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen and then married the U.S. citizen.

You must file a petition to remove the conditions of your permanent resident status or risk losing your lawful status. The petition should be filed within 90 days of the expiration of your two-year green card. For more information, see how Don't Lose Your Green Card Due to Long Absence from the U.S.

To begin the process, please email us the documents listed below and we'll contact you to confirm receipt of your email. Please note that any documents that are not in English will need to be translated. We will process your application as soon as we receive it and within a few days you will have your case fully prepared.

Documents required from you
- Conditional Resident Card
- Passport
- State issued driver's license/non-driver ID card
- Birth certificate and SSN card
- Current Marriage Certificate (if married)
- Any previous divorce decree issued by the court
- All of your children's passports and conditional residency cards if their cases are being filed with yours (we charge an additional $100 per child).
